    Is this fair?

    #1
my friend teaches at a school (k-8) and they have a pizza lunch every few months...80% of the students are tamil and 20% are mixed south asians and others

they had a pizza lunch a few months ago where they had 3 options 1.)pepperoni, 2)halal

now for the upcoming pizza lunch they only have one option
    1) halal

So my friend talked to the teacher organizing it and asked why only 1 option as it is possible some people dont eat halal...and the organizer said that a few parents (muslim) came and made a threat that if they serve pepperoni (pork) that they will not let their students attend the entire day at school as it is insensitive to them.. so to prevent isolation they are not giving any pepperoni option and all students can only have halal...

Obviously the organizer now forgot about vegetarian because she reacted to the angry parents by just offering halal (probably panicked) and now no parents are complaining but my friend the suggestion they should have a non halal vegetarian option which they feel they need to send a letter to the parents to ask them if none would be offended (its an extreme where since theyve had so many muslim parents complain for various things (christmas carols as well) that they are insecure and feel the need to send letters home for anything ..

i think they should still offer pepperoni..
people talk about democracy and individual rights and majority appeasement....then why appease 1% minority that restricts 99% majority?

isnt this hypocritical? if the school was 99% muslim majority and if they didnt get their way 100% then they could justifiably argue that they will vote and DEMOCRATICALLY get what they want....

the western world will continue to bend over more and more and it should be interesting to see how canada is in 10-20 years as these selfish demands increase..

So ironically the so proclaimed victims actually make everyone else victims in reality

If I was in that class, I would have burst out crying, because I am vegetarian.

Yeah back then, me too. That's a pretty dumb school, Like Ramone said, I would worry about more than just the pizza if they can't figure out that the universal option is vegetarian.

You should do a whole write up on it and send it to the school siting other news articles from around the web!

Hi KC! I just got back from Pier 1 Imports. I love that place.

Dinner Companion is playing nhl10 on his xbox and chatting with his Toronto friends about all of the leaf's changes.

School's tend to have reactionary policies like this for which ever group speaks the loudest. Its not well thought out policy.

Dharma, can you find out share the name of the school?

I think you posted something like this last year too.

I don't think it necessarily needs to be halal but maybe just a plain cheese pizza? Anyone who likes pizza will enjoy just plain cheese.

at my work, they had either pepperoni, ham or extreme veggie pizzas. I hated it because I didn't want to eat any of those.

                      Plain cheese all the way!

Islam does not promote the idea of "fairness" in some objective and universal fashion. So if Muslims push for something to cater to them and do not seem to care about anyone else, don't be surprised.

                            Are you being sarcastic?

If so, then of course there are Muslims who cater to the infidel and non-Muslims and might be considered "fair". However, Islam does not promote this view, neither did Mohhamed. The only exceptions being if there is intention to convert.
